A refrigerator with an automated ice maker and a built-in water dispenser does absolutely nothing if you do not have a water line to connect to it. You can solve this with an ice maker installation kit that allows you to use the plumbing beneath the sink. The kit provides you with the required parts to hook up a water line to your refrigerator. Find your water supply lines beneath your sink. You may have three water supply lines beneath the sink; two lines connect directly to the faucet while the third line connects to the dishwasher. The valve connected to the right side of the faucet is the cold water supply line.

I admit it. We also moved to an area with a neighborhood well and nearby fracking so no telling what else ends up in our water. Simply test tap water, record the TDS number then record the refrigerator water after it has been filters and compare the two numbers. In my testing, the water filter was doing almost nothing to remove the total solids. So, I started looking into other options. Now, these filters are a little more complex but well worth it.

Running a water line to a refrigerator to supply its ice maker and drinking water dispenser has never been easier. In most cases, the water line can be run from a kitchen faucet water supply line through the kitchen cabinets and over to the refrigerator. If running the line through the cabinets is not feasible, you might need to run a line through the floor and up to where the refrigerator is located.
