PAISAJES EMERGENTES
Alongside Edgar Mazo, Callejas and Mejia are co-directors of Paisajes Emergentes (Emerging Landscapes), a young cross-disciplinary landscape and architecture studio based in Medellin, Colombia. This interplay between architecture and landscape is reflected in projects which blur the lines between buildings and their environments, and which incorporate ecological processes, power generation and temporal change.
Nearing completion, the studio’s competition-winning proposal for the aquatic complex at the 2010 Medellin Pan-American Games intermingles pools for races and recreation with a living wetland ecosystem. Uncovering new territories which mediate between the built and natural environments, Paisajes Emergentes is certainly one to watch.
